Stormwater Pollution Prevention Project
The State’s Natural Resources Management Boards have initiated
a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Project that focuses on business
and industry’s impact on the stormwater system. The project
aims to improve water quality in local catchments by reducing the
amount of pollution from entering the stormwater system.
In conjunction with this project, a business recognition scheme is being developed, which recognises best water management practice in a small business environment.
For more information contact your local Natural Resources Management Board.

Environmental management systems
Environmental management
systems (EMS) provide businesses with a structured means of managing
their environmental impacts. An EMS can be the first step for
a business to take towards environmental improvement, as it enables
organisations to benchmark their environmental performance, and
then regularly evaluate their performance and improvement.

WaterWise Project
WaterWise manages projects to raise awareness of the importance
of conserving water, and the River Murray. Presently there is
a gap in water industry training pertaining to the topic of water
conservation and the importance of the River Murray. The current
WaterWise project is intended to bridge this gap and reduce water
consumption by business and industries.

Eco-efficiency Program
Eco-efficiency is strongly supported
by the business community because it recognises the benefits
of combining economic and environmental objectives. By being
eco-efficient, goods and services can be produced with less energy
and fewer raw materials, resulting in less waste, less pollution
and less cost.
The EPA runs a number of eco-efficient programs for business. Click on the link below to find out how your business can get involved.
You can also view case studies that illustrate the savings some companies have made by adopting eco-efficient practices.

Kesab Clean Site Program
If you are a contractor or builder
it would be helpful to learn how the Clean Site program can assist
you. Clean Site management best practices support the protection
of our environment, particularly the impacts on stormwater. An
environmental Code
of Practice for the building and construction industry has
been developed and the Clean
Site website can provide more information.
