The 'Water ~ Learning
and Living' and 'Catchment Care' web pages have been developed by
the Northern Adelaide & Barossa, Patawalonga, Torrens, River
Murray and Onkaparinga Catchment Water Management Boards with support
from the Environment Protection Agency. These organisations aim
to improve water education across the catchments and the whole of
South Australia.
These web pages are intended for use by all teachers from Reception
to Year 12 in South Australian Schools who wish to teach about water-related
issues and water management. They have been designed as an education
‘road map’ to provide the educator with resources, activities
and contacts to relevant organisations making water and biodiversity
education easy, and accessible at the touch of a button.
'Water ~ Learning and Living' was developed with input from teachers,
the Curriculum Unit of the Department of Education, Training and
Employment and Waterwatch officers.
The ’Catchment Care’ web pages complement ‘Water
~ Learning and Living’, and there are many shared resources.
'Catchment Care' is designed specifically to support the Our
Patch/Catchment Care program offered by the Northern Adelaide
and Barossa, Onkaparinga, Torrens and Patawalonga Catchment Water
Management Boards. 'Catchment Care' also supports the delivery of
the Waterwatch
program. By using these resources teachers can develop a whole-of-school
program that links ‘hands-on’ Our Patch/Catchment Care
and Waterwatch activities to classroom learning. 'Catchment Care'
was also developed with input from schools and the Curriculum Unit
of the Department of Education, Training and Employment.
